Identifying Local Oppurtunities

1
Parent resistance thwarts local school desegregation efforts

https://www.gainesville.com/news/20200129/parent-resistance-thwarts-local-school-desegregation-efforts

Multiple local governments have been trying to implement, or successfully implemented a voluntary desegregation plan that works around laws that don not allow schools to be segregated by race. Many Parents Gathered in protest all across the US in order to stop this racist use of semi-lawful loopholes.

Ap Exclusive: Woman who says Trump raped her seeks his DNA
Last summer, a woman accused President Trump of raping her in a dressing room. Trump said that he'd never seen her in his life, but a photo containing both of them might prove otherwise. She states that she has his DNA on a part of her dress, and claims that she wants his DNA tested against the DNA on the dress.
The problem is that Trump will not give in to the request, and will use all the monetary and political power he has to evade her.

3
Student Government apparently doesn't have a camera
Someone involved in UF extracurriculars wrote out to the student government, and asked to borrow a camera. Apparently, whoever responded, said that the student government doesn't have a camera to lend out!
The problem is, the student government spend thousands of dollars on commemorative statues and other figures around campus, but not enough for even a single camera.
This is a problem for those involved in UF extracurricular activities have to pay for their own camera, when there could be a cut from the student government budget for it.

UN agency declares global emergency over virus from China
Due to the Coronavirus, The World Health Organization proclaimed that this deadly virus, known asd the Coronavirus is dangerously contagious, and originated in China.
Everyone on Earth is susceptible to this disease, as far as we know, and is at a slight risk of getting into contact with the virus due to unknowingly infected people traveling the world.

UF Health monitors rumors of coronavirus spreading to Gainesville

There have been multiple rumors of the Coronavirus spreading through the world, and some rumors even saying that there is a possible victim of the virus here in Gainesville.
This is extremely dangerous for everyone. Not just anybody near Gainesville, but everyone all over the world. This would mean that the virus somehow made it all the way to America, and it probably got into contact with someone else on the journey over.

My Oppurtunity

I personally believe, that I will successfully make a career in online marketing. I want to be my own boss, and plan to make a business through advertising.

My opportunity in digital marketing is far from being complete, and I am still learning all of the basics in entrepreneurship and economics. I also don't know anything about digital marketing, but am taking a google garage class on analytics and digital marketing. So in terms of needs:
-Digital advertisement is what is needed.
-The advertisement is needed by any small business that struggles with having an online presence, or even just wants to expand their reach to more customers in general.
-This has been an ever-present need from business owners, and one modern solution is online advertisement.
-Some companies are currently using online marketing, some are marketing through other real world techniques.

A prototypical customer would be a small local business owner who wants to expand beyond real world advertisement, or even a business owner who isn't getting what they want out of how they advertise online right now.

After talking to some family friend small business owners, found that most are not struggling with their online marketing, but some are not. However, the main problem they all face is in who they advertise to, and how their advertisements get shown to their ideal customers.

I believe I still have a high chance of succeeding in the digital marketing world, and I'm confident that if I put enough work in, I will be able to provide the service that I want to be really good at. It's very important for entrepreneurs to adapt their ideas in accordance to what their customers want.

"My" First Entrepreneur Story

My own entrepreneur story is, is actually centered around my friend, we'll call him Jake.

Near the beginning of my junior year, my friend Jake texted me if I was interested in making money online with him.
"Of course!" I said. "But I'm not interested in signing up for any scams..."

Jake went on to tell me about drop-shipping and how he, with two of our mutual friends, made a total of forty-thousand dollars over the course of one month. They told me how they had been playing with the thought of making a drop-shipping website before, but after a certain celebrity died, they decided to make a store with merchandise selling products about him. After spending a bit of money on advertisements, money started flooding in! Drop-shipping seemed like a gold mine!

But what is drop shipping? Drop shipping is an e-commerce advent that allows a middle man to reap profits through obtaining customers for a product. Basically, a large wholesale website that mass produces a massive variety of items, sells them for very cheap. Drop-shipping, is the act of making a website that advertises some of the products from a wholesale site. Ads are bought for the drop-shipping site, and go in and buy the products from the drop-ship site. The catch is, all the products on the site are slightly (or largely,) listed as more expensive than the cost of the products on the wholesale site.

When a customer gets drawn in by the drop-ship websites advertisements, they enter all their information and purchase an item. Once their info and payment is in, all their information is sent to the wholesale site, along with however much money the item costs. The leftover money that was spent on the item on the drop-shipping site all go to whoever made the website.

Since that interaction with Jake, I have tested the waters with drop shipping, but haven't opened my own website for my self. However, I have grown an interest in e-commerce, and plan on working on my own way of making money online...

I enrolled into ENT 3003 at UF in order to learn more basic concepts about entrepreneurship. I am planning on making my own business, and being my own boss, so I thought it would be good to learn the basics.

2A - Bug List

1.     When my roommates leave their dirty dishes in the sink after eating, even though we all agreed to hand wash out dishes after we eat or cook
a.     They usually eat right before having to leave, and don’t plan for spending an extra 3 minutes doing dishes.
2.     Soon after I fill up my vehicle with gas, the gasometer does not properly work, and sometimes takes days to give me an accurate fuel reading.
a.     I am not sure why and cannot currently afford to get it checked by a mechanic.
3.     My roommate constantly asking to borrow my car when he has access to his own, as well as other modes of transportation.
a.     He doesn’t want to take his “nice” car out very often.
4.     Waking up with a bad case of allergies every morning (stuffed nose, red and itchy eyes, as well as a cough,) even though I am on allergy medication.
a.     It may be dust, or it may be a new rug that I have in my room, I am unsure.
5.     Not being able to do my laundry when I’m home because my roommate will put his load in just before leaving our house.
a.     I mention beforehand that I am preparing to do laundry, which “reminds them” that they were about to do a load.
6.     Not being able to stream videos on our living room tv because too many people are using the internet at once.
a.     We do not have extremely reliable internet and have four to six people here usually.
7.     When I plan to cook a certain meal only to realize right before I begin to prepare it, that I am missing one or two key ingredients.
a.     I usually either forget that I’m missing something, or a roommate used up the last of it.
8.     Having to share my car with my brother, when he lives ten minutes away from me.
a.     We left his car to my sister back in our hometown, and now share my car here in Gainesville.
9.     Not being able to see my girlfriend more often during the semester because she lives nearly two hours away from me.
a.     She goes to near in Jacksonville, which is a decent drive from where I attend university.
10.  Waking up in the morning with a plan, only to accidentally turn off my alarm instead of pressing snooze, and then sleeping in.
a.     I accidentally press snooze out of habit, but occasionally go as far as turning the alarm off without meaning too during a state of sleepy confusion.
11.  The sheer fact that I am extremely clumsy, to the point where I have already destroyed 4 dishes this month (my record is eight in one month) and broken one guitar.
a.     I am honestly just a clumsy guy, and I have come to accept that, but recently I have been avoiding certain situations to minimize damage.
12.  My acne not subsiding, although I have been on an acne medication advised to me by a health professional.
a.     Maybe because I haven’t been washing my face as well as I normally do.
13.  Not getting enough sleep, especially during busy weeks.
a.     I cause this by staying up and either doing homework, watching TV, or playing music.
14.  Having one of the metal rods on my watch strap come loose, causing the face of the watch to swing just by either the top or bottom of it, and then having to look around for where it fell and painstakingly take the time to fix the little piece of metal.
a.     I do not know how this happens, but at one point I was forced to order new metal rods, and have already used up the two that I ordered…
15.  Not being able to eat/handle peanut butter in the dining room because my roommate is slightly allergic.
a.     He’ll be put into anaphylactic shock if he touches peanut butter.
16.  Carrying my groceries up three flights of stair, especially after lifting earlier that day.
a.     Since I live on the fourth floor, I need to carry my groceries up the stairs once I shop, because the elevator is far from my unit and very slow.
17.  Not being able to drill holes in my room because I am renting the place.
a.     I will lose my security deposit if my room ends up full of holes.
18.  When my roommate makes excessive noise in the living room after everyone’s gone to bed.
a.     I do not know why he chooses to be loud during the night, but we’ve all talked to him about this to no avail…
19.  Having to deal with getting a new debit card because mine was recently used without my authority.
a.     I’m guessing my card was tapped at a gas station while filling up my car.
20.  Being woken up by the sunlight on my sleeping-in days because of my less than adequate blinds.
a.     My blinds do not work well, and the windows in my room face towards the East.

In all honesty, I did not have too many problems while coming up bugs during this assignment. I just started to think of things that annoy me, and when I started running out, I would lower the requirement of how annoying something is to consider it a bug.
